Magic Words are Featured Prominently in Voodoo Tiki Artwork
Voodoo Tiki Tequila has announced that in 2012 twenty-five “Magic Words” will be retired. The change has collectors scrambling to find bottles which will soon become very hard to find and collectable.
“If you’re looking for “Sexual Attraction”, “Irresistiblility” or “Invisibility” you had better hurry”, said Michael Cuevas, Voodoo Tiki Tequila VP of Southeast Sales. “The last bottles with the retired words have already shipped. They’re already sold out at the manufacturer.”
Every bottle of Voodoo Tiki Tequila has a glass tiki idol inside, and a “Magic Word” on the back. The Tiki inside and “Magic Word” relate the legend that Voodoo Tiki Tequilas age in barrels carved from the ancient Voodoo Tiki idols lost hundreds of years ago. There were over 100 magic words published on Voodoo Tiki bottles in 2011. Some are common, some uncommon, some rare and some are one-of-a-kind.
“Collectors are always on the lookout for the rare ad unique “Magic Words” but now the retired words could be much more difficult to find”, said Julian McWatt VP of Manufacturing. “Like the one-of-a-kind “Magic Words” once the retired words are off the shelf they’re gone forever.”

Like wine, tequila is a very collectable spirit. Most tequila fans keep a few brands around at all times, and most have “Special” bottles that they keep sealed for special occasions or to hold their collectable value. Voodoo Tiki is particularly collectable because of it’s small production runs, handcrafted bottles, bottle numbering and the chase for the variant “Magic Words.”
“It’s a very engaging product”, said Joe Zemel of 67 Wines in Lighthouse Point Florida. “There are so many bells and whistles on Voodoo Tiki. A lot of talking points, high quality product in a beautiful package. It’s very popular in our store.”
Meanwhile, bottles of Voodoo Tiki Tequila, both full or empty, with the retired words have turned up on Ebay auctions at 2-3 times MSRP. Zemel was not surprised.
“It’s a hot commodity so the market dictates the price on the collectors market.” Concluded Zemel, “I think savy collectors should still shop liquor stores before paying top dollar. Some of those words are on our shelf right now at our regular price.”
